Contact Design of Denmark has established a reputation for high-quality indoor and outdoor lighting.

Torch was designed by Finn Kaerulff Clausen in 1996 and has been specified worldwide for the most prestigious locations as well as private dwellings. Available in four standard sizes as well as bespoke sizes for contract. Choice of metal: stainless steel (sanded or matt), copper, cor-ten, or zinc.

The family has now been extended with a new indoor and outdoor luminaire, Kubus (IP44), to match Torch where smaller luminaires are required. Mounted singly, in a row, or four together, Kubus is bound to impress with its simplicity. Also ideal for bathrooms - a sector where there are few outstanding lamps.

kNOT was designed in 1961 by two Danish architects Hans Haugaard and Niels Esman. Since they were busy pursuing their architectural careers and the necessary materials were not available, the project was shelved. Now, with modern compounds, the dream has become a reality, forty-odd years after it was first conceived.

The lamp was designed using a single band of material wound around itself five times. This created an interlocking, organic shape, embodying the "golden ratio" (phi), which can be found sixty times in each luminaire.

When not lit, the natural contours of the lamp form an aesthetic sculpture which is transformed when lit to show the interaction between the different layers and their luminescence. The effect is striking.

Now available as a table lamp and a pendant in two sizes, in polycarbonate shade and polished aluminium fittings.
