Hans Wegner
The Wishbone Chair, designed by Hans Wegner
Hans Wegner is one of the architects and designers who made Danish design
world famous, joining Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton, Nana Ditzel,
and Børge Mogensen. His most famous designs are his chairs,
which stand out from the crowd like new letters in an alphabet.
Hans Wegner's furniture is based on the principle that
good material and good craftsmanship go together hand in hand.
Although he worked with many different materials, old and modern,
he loved wood above all others. His furniture is the strongest possible
symbol of the union of industrial design and craft-based production.
The Wishbone Chair was first presented in 1950, and was followed by a
range of different chairs which have nearly all gained the status of
"Classics", sought after as collectors' items all over the world.
The Hoop Chair, designed by Hans Wegner
The Hoop Chair dates back to 1986. It is made from solid ash with a
laminated hoop. Seat and back are woven halyard. Two options for
cloth-covered cushions.
