Refer + Staer is a Danish design and manufacturing company specialising
in lighting for commercial projects and private clients.
Refer + Staer create lighting to a specific brief from architects,
interior designers and specifiers, for large and small projects,
to budget and within specified time scales. Their projects include
bespoke chandeliers, limited production runs, and total design solutions
for restaurants, hotels, nightclubs etc.
Refer + Staer have won awards such as Best Light in
Wallpaper Magazine, and a Good Design Award
from the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design.
They have also recently been awarded a travelling scholarship to New York.
Refer + Staer is distinguished by quality, simplicity and exclusivity.
Bulb
Sofie's design Bulb has won her the prestigious Good Design Award
2001 from the Chicago Athenaeum
Museum of Architecture and Design.
The luminaire is elegant and low cost and is included in Unique Interieur’s
products range, available through Simply Scandinavian in the UK.

Bespoke chandelier with 18 balls, available in clear or smoked
glass, with matching stems and ceiling rose
ice is another example of Sofie’s ability to design simple,
versatile luminaries. ice is available in a number of colours,
configurations and finishes, including cut glass motifs.
Babycream in Leeds
Sofie enjoys working with clients to a brief for chandeliers.
She worked with Igloo Design of Manchester to produce a long spiral chandelier
for the entrance to the Babycream nightclub in Leeds.
